Atlantic Immigration Pilot

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program is a new option for those who want to immigrate to Canada. It’s a partnership between the Government of Canada and the four Atlantic provinces – Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island, through which the country is planning to welcome 2,000 newcomers, along with their families to the Atlantic region of Eastern Canada.

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot program consists part of an overall Atlantic Growth Strategy focusing on the five priority areas – innovation, skilled workforce and immigration, clean growth and climate change, trade and investment, and also infrastructure. Interested non-Canadians who have a valid job offer can apply for permanent residence in Canada through one of the three following programs:

• High-skilled workers

• Intermediate-skilled workers

• International graduates

High-skilled workers:

Foreign nationals, who have a job offer from an employer in Atlantic Canada, will be able to submit an application for permanent residence in Canada under this category. Eligible candidates must have a full-time job for at least one year from a designated employer in one of the four Atlantic Provinces. They must possess minimum one year of job experience in related field. Besides, they must have a Canadian secondary or post-secondary certificate, diploma or bachelor degree or any completed foreign educational credential.

Intermediate-skilled workers:

Foreign nationals with a job offer from an employer in Atlantic Canada can apply for permanent residence through this program. To apply under this category, candidates must have a valid, full-time job offer with intermediate employment from a designated employer in one of the four Atlantic Provinces. Just like the high-skilled workers, they should have at least one year experience in the related job field.

International Graduates:

Foreign nationals who have recently graduated from any Canadian educational institute can apply for permanent residence under this category. Candidates must complete a two-year post-secondary diploma from a publicly funded educational institution in the Atlantic Provinces, gained within the 12 months before the submission of the application for permanent residence in Canada. Also, they must have a valid job offer from a designated employer in Atlantic region but don’t need any prior experience.
